Class Descriptions:
Basic Yoga Flow: Tuesday 11:45-12:35 Westlake Recreation Center & Thursday 12:00-12:50 Yoga Loft in the Village
A welcoming class for students of any level interested in practicing the basic poses or for newer students to learn the basics of vinyasa (flow) yoga. A gentle, uplifting experience with a focus on optimal alignment & breath while developing flexibility, strength, balance & mindfulness.
Yoga Flow: Monday 9:30-10:30 Avon Lake Yoga & Thursday 6:00-7:00pm Avon Lake Yoga
Flow yoga, also called vinyasa yoga, synchronizes the breath with a dynamic sequence of connected yoga postures often joined together in a smooth, flowing way. Breath is an important component of these classes. Sometimes we move from one pose (asana) to the next on an inhale or an exhale; other times we hold the poses for longer periods of time. Flowing through the poses warms the body and gets your breath and energy moving, while holding the poses gives your body more time to experience the benefits within the posture. Breathing practices, visualizations, and meditation are also included. These classes are intended to improve strength, flexibility, balance, concentration, ease, and overall health & well-being.
Slow Yoga Flow: Tuesday 6:00-7:00pm Avon Lake Yoga
This class is a progression beyond Basic Yoga Flow. It is gentler than a Yoga Flow class.
Chair Yoga: Ann sometimes substitutes as the teacher on Fridays at 11:00 at Avon Lake Yoga
This class incorporates breathing techniques, meditation, sitting, and standing poses to give a full experience of Yoga without getting up or down from the floor.

More from Ann's students:
I have been practicing yoga with Ann Lew for over 10 years. Her classes are wonderful and suitable for all levels. Each class provides a well planned series of breathing exercises and poses at a very good pace. Ann presents options and modifications to asanas/poses that allows each person to challenge themselves or adjust the practice to what serves them best - "not too tight & not too loose" * as she likes to remind us. I leave each class feeling positively renewed in both body & spirit. ~Chris (* referenced from Pema Chodron's book, The Wisdom of No Escape)
I've had Ann as my yoga instructor for 6+ years. Her style of teaching has a very calming effect and she takes you through the practice with lots of grace. I always look forward to my yoga practice with her. ~JS
I have been practicing yoga for 20 years -- on the East Coast, the West Coast, at yoga retreats and in other countries -- and Ann Lew is without doubt my favorite yoga instructor. Even the most difficult yoga poses are easy to achieve with her thoughtful sequences and sense of flow. Her deep knowledge as a dancer and physical therapist ensures that I stay healthy and that I am not in danger of injury. Ann has taught me how to use the breath in a mindful way that can be restful and meditative, as well as energizing. I come away from every class with Ann feeling rejuvenated and inspired. ~Deb H
Five Stars!!! Ann Lew introduced me to Yoga over 10 years ago and it has changed my life for the good. I experience less aches and pains and gained more flexibility. It has helped me mentally as well. She is happy to guide you in your practice and encourage the class to push themselves but also to be aware of your limits. She has such a friendly face and soothing voice, I would highly recommend her class to anyone at any age. ~Martha
Thank you. Ann I really appreciate going to practice that you teach. It does sooo much for me, both body and mind. Since I've been going to your class, (about 5 years now, ) I must admit, I feel different about myself in a good way! I do hope I can continue to practice with you, for a long time to come! ~sincerely Ruth
I have had the pleasure of attending Ann Lew's yoga classes for more than five years now. Ann designs her classes with my age group in mind, concentrating on balance, breath, stretching and the spine. I have noticed a huge difference in my body's vitality and resilience since working with her. What I value the most about Ann is that she brings peace, tranquility and positivity into the room, creating a nurturing and safe environment. My week is not complete without Ann's class! ~Christine Z
Ann Lew is a one-of-a-kind Yoga teacher! She is so helpful to anyone who is having trouble, and she is genuinely interested in all of her students having a good experience. When she has to be away and has a substitute, it just isn't the same! ~CarolSue
